CHAS or in its full title The Contractors Health and Assessment Scheme, is an accreditation scheme for companies working mainly in the private sector.

The scheme was setup to save companies having to supply lots of documentation to Merton Councilso that they could do work for them. The scheme was so successful that it was rolled out to other councils.

So why do you need it ?
Well the answer is fairly simple, councils and other organisations want their suppliers to be of a certain standard, and CHAS is one of the ways of making sure of that.
