RR899 – High reliability organisations: A review of the literature

In recent years there has been a huge increase in the literature talking about the control of major hazard risks, in particular the philosophies of high reliability organisations, resilience management and safety culture. This report identifies key features and characteristics that need to be adopted by organisations to achieve ongoing high reliability and safety objectives.

Public consultation on the ONR interpretation of ‘bulk quantities’ of radioactive matter – Workshop presentation and notes now available

A consultation workshop on ‘Bulk Quantities’ took place on 24 October 2011, allowing consultees the opportunity to ask ONR any questions of clarification before responding formally. The notes and presentation from the workshop are now available. The formal public consultation period ends on 12 December 2011.

Cross government group on gas safety and carbon monoxide (CO) awareness – Annual report 2010/11

The Cross Government Group on Gas Safety and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Awareness reconvened in June 2009 to ensure a joined–up approach across departments, the devolved administrations and other governmental bodies to improve gas safety and tackle carbon monoxide risks from all fuels. The Group, also aims to develop effective government strategies and promote knowledge and understanding of gas safety and carbon monoxide risks and how to manage them.
